I thought long and hard what I wanted to store here and decided to create a “Craft Closet”. I had several supplies in my office closet, on my bookshelf and even some in my bedroom. Luckily, my husband had already built shelves in this closet so it was simple to just add my crafts.
Since this closet was empty, I started off with a clean slate. My first goal was to not spend a dime! I wanted to gather all my empty storage bins and baskets all over the house and in the garage. I have been doing so much de-cluttering and the last thing I want to do now is buy more bins or baskets!
To start off, I hung a scrabble garland labeling it “Crafts”.
- Pens/Markers/Colors Caddy (how to create your own, click here>( DIY homework caddy)
- Craft Supplies
- glue gun supplies
- Decorating Supplies
- Fabric (I plan to purchase more fabric in future and hang on rods)
- Gift Wrapping Supplies
- Greeting Cards
- Gift bags
- Gift tags & bows
- Labeling supplies
- Mailing supplies
- bubble wrap
- mailing boxes
- mailing envelopes
- tissue paper
- Party Supplies
- Ribbon Organizer (See how I made: Ribbon organizer )
- Sewing Supplies
Lastly, I placed all the baskets and bins on the shelves and started placing all the items in the different baskets. I put labels on each basket for all above categories.
I hung up the wash tape and wire. In addition, I have a white vase to hold my “scraps”. My husband ended up taking off the closet door for easier access
This proves to me that all my de-cluttering was worth every minute. Looking at this closet makes me happy and all my creative juices are flowing and I am ready to make something creative.
I hope this motivates you to organize your craft supplies.
