Nothing says Fall like caramel apples, pumpkin baked goods and cold, crisp weather. Have you ever wondered what is the easiest, possible way to make your own caramel sauce? Here is a simple and very easy way to make caramel. It is the only way I make it and use this caramel for many of my fall recipes. One of my favorite being, homemade empanadas. Caramel is so delicious and can be used in so many different recipes.
All you need is a can of your favorite sweetened condensed milk. How simple and easy is this? That’s right, all you need is a can of sweetened condenesed milk.
Heat a pot of water and place a closed can of sweetened condensed milk in the pot. Cover pot and let it simmer in pot of water, making sure the can is completely covered with water. Do not let it dry up without water as the can can explode. Boil for about three to four hours. Once it is done, let it cool. Open can only when it has completely cooled. It will turn out a nice, caramel color. Oh how caramel makes me so happy!! Enjoy!
