Summer is in full swing and that means our children are at home all day. During these hot summer days, we need to have healthy snacks on hand for them to eat while at home and/or on the road. This will be more healthier and less expensive than them grabbing unhealthy chips, cookies and candy bars.
- chocolate covered pomengrates and acai berries
- dried pomengrates
- carrot sticks
- red seedless grapes
- nuts (almonds, pecans and peanuts)
- Ritz crackers
- yogurt covered raisins
- granola bars
- any kind of cereal
- Homemade Trail Mix (I add oatmeal, chocolate chips, coconut, raw nuts and dried cranberries)
Get your kids to help you stuff the snacks in baggies.
Lastly, I place all the snack baggies on a caddy, labeled “Snacks”. I have even found myself throwing these in my purse and eating them throughout the day. Best snacks ever!!
When we are ready to travel, I place these in a small cooler with a frozen water bottle inside to keep them fresh. In addition, when traveling, my children take their own backpack with their preferred snack and water bottles. When we go on our road trip, I will pack the water bottles on the bottom and snacks on the top of this cooler. I also make some sandwiches and add these in here too.
