For fifteen years, we have had a pink fireplace in the middle of our living room. I love our fireplace; however, I have grown out of loving the pink. For several months, I went back and forth whether I should paint it or not. Finally, I came to the conclusion that it was definitely time for a fresh makeover. After all, what is better than a brick fireplace? A white brick fireplace in my book!
After some research in different types of paint, I decided to try the Valspar Chalk Finish Paint. I chose the Kid Gloves color from the Vaslpar collection from Lowe’s.
First of all, I cleaned all our fireplace. Then, I used some tape to tape all the edges around it. In addition, I had a little helper who was right by my side to assist me.
To paint, I used a paintbrush. After two coats of this Valspar paint, I achieved the results I was looking for. I didn’t want a solid white coat. I also didn’t want it to have a real smooth texture. This is the reason I chose the chalky finish paint.
