A yard/garage sale is a perfect way to get rid of all used items, clothes or toys that you don’t wear or use. Your first step is to have a garage sale to make money for all the things you bought and no longer need. Your second step is all the things that do not sell, donate. Here are my easy steps into having your very own, successful garage sale:
4. ASK FOR HELP: I always tell my Husband when I plan to have my garage sale so he can help me put the signs up the night before or early that morning, help by taking stuff out and help me when customers come. Ask for your mother or sister, neighbor, friend etc. for help. The more the better!
6. SORT YOUR MERCHANDISE:
When you finally open your garage sale, always be welcoming to all your customers. A happy, cheerful “Good Morning/Good Afternoon or Hello” will always make your customers feel welcome. If they want cheaper prices right away, nicely tell them, “I just started my garage sale, please come back tomorrow when I drastically reduce my prices.” I find this always lets them know, no I don’t want to give away my stuff just yet. If they come back tomorrow and the merchandise is still here, I will lower the prices.
On the last day slash your prices. Also, you can have them fill a grocery bag up for $5. This will help you get rid of your clothes left over.
12. CELEBRATE: You did it!!! This is the most rewarding feeling ever because not only did you clean out and organize your closets, other rooms in your home, garage etc., you made money doing it! Whatever the profit was, it was well worth it because now you have a cleaner, more organized home and a few dollars in your pocket! You also will have a great feeling by donating the remainders for a great cause!
