Agua Frescas are refreshing drinks made with fresh seasonal fruit and water. In Mexico, these agua frescas are used basically with every meal. There are endless possibilities of easily making these aguas frescas in your home. This traditional drink is made with any type of fruit such as watermelon, cantaloupe, coconut, mango, strawberry, lemons, etc. You name the fruit, add sugar & water and that is your fresh drink a.k.a. agua fresca!

Even before we knew the numerous nutrition facts of watermelon, it is one of my family’s all time favorite fruit! My kids enjoy fresh watermelon daily on these hot summer days in North Texas! My husband’s favorite drink to cool off after a long day’s work is agua de sandia – watermelon water.
Here is my easy recipe to make your watermelon drink today.
- 4 cups of fresh watermelon (I used seedless)
- 1/2 cups of sugar (I used cane sugar)
- 5 cups cold water
- 1 sprig of mint
- 1 lime wedge
- Add fresh watermelon and 2 cups of water to a blender. Blend until smooth.
Add sugar to 3 cups of water in glass pitcher. Add blended watermelon to pitcher and stir.
Add crushed ice and garnish with one sprig of mint and lime wedge.
